La jubilación

La jubilación is Spanish for retirement. Odd, right?

It sounds a lot like jubilation, a state of pure bliss. But is retirement really that great? I mean, yeah, you don't have to work for the rest of your life. But what do you have to do?

Unless you are fortunate enough to retire at an early age, you pretty much are just waiting around. Not to sound bleak or anything. Maybe I'll get to travel when I hit that age. Who knows?

But it's a thought that occurred to me while doing my Spanish homework. Jubilación is retirement. Talk about "lost in translation."
