Falling in Love

I fell in love with my major today. No, more like this entire past week. I'm a journalism major because I received a scholarship that requires me to remain in the College of Communication. My plan was to go through my four years blindly, graduate, and head off to my real calling in life: law school.

But I went on this journalism field trip last week where we interviewed six politicians. We also got to talk with the two Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reporters who cover the Capitol as their beat, Jason Stein and Patrick Marley. It was so much fun!

This weekend,  I wrote four different articles about the trip. And I enjoyed writing them! Last semester, my journalism class was a struggle. But I look forward to it now!

Today, my professor, Dr. Thorn, edited my articles. Also, the Marquette Tribune finally printed the feature story I co-authored with another Tribune reporter. I've been working on this project since the end of January, but it really started in November when I conducted my first few preliminary interviews. So this project is really six months in the making! I feel so accomplished seeing this 1,700 word article in print. Picking up my copy (ok, I took  seven extra for some family members and friends). Watching other people flip through the Tribune and wondering if they were reading my words. It's exhilarating!

Read my next post to read about the conclusion I have made...
