A Good Ole Fashioned Lenten Cleanse

It's that time of year. With Lent beginning tomorrow, I will be giving up some of my favorite things in life. Although this practice is intended to be purely for religious reasons, my choice reflects many others aspects of life I hope to improve.

The "no desserts" portion of my Lenten promise will make my life a little bit healthier. I've even made an appointment with a nutritionist (free at the Student Health Clinic!) so I know exactly what I should and should not be eating. I usually give this up every year for Lent, the only diet I am capable of sticking to. A 40-day diet, but still respectable.

The other half of my Lenten promise is no social media. This means no Facebook, no Twitter, no Pinterest, and no Instagram (sorry, haven't jumped on the foursquare bus just yet). I did my anti-social media for last year's Lent as well and was AMAZED by all of the time I had in the day. Expect many more blog posts in these next forty days since I've ruled that blogging is not a form of social media.

Which is more difficult: sweets or social media? They're both hard, but it's worth it. For my health, my blog, and of course, my faith.
